The 8-Bit Challenge
We challenge you to design & code an 8-bit style video game.
The 8-Bit Challenge is open to all D65 students and Evanston residents in grades 4th – 8th.
The rules are simple. Design a video game using MakeCode Arcade, include core game elements, and submit it by December 5th. The more game elements you include the better your chances you can win the best prizes.
No experience is required.
Never designed a video game before? We got you covered. Check out the 8-Bit Challenge YouTube Channel for 20+ video tutorials. We will also host live stream tutorials every Saturday from October 17th – December 5th.
Submit your game and earn a chance to win prizes.
Anyone who submits a game before the deadline will be entered into a prize raffle. The more gaming elements you include in your game the better prizes you can win. We will feature the top games, celebrate all participants, and pick raffle winners in a citywide live stream showcase on December 12th.
